unlike so very many horses, Belial enjoyed laying down when he slept. he felt more rested the following morning. well, at least he would if he would ever got to sleep at a reasonable hour. either he spent half the night roaming randomly, keeping him and a female awake, or somewhat tormented mind prevented him from restful sleep. last night had been a combination of two; he was exploring the unknown until the wee hours before trying to settle down. it seemed eyes were closed for only an hour or two before the sun crested and woke him. had he been in a darkened enclosure he would have managed to sleep much longer; however the rays always forced his hand. the steed sat up from his passed-out-looking sleeping position, and remained almost upright for a few minutes. then lips were licked and appendages convinced to straighten and frame rose to proper height.
mornings were never very interesting. he did the boring chores; had he been near water he would have gone in for a bath. alas, immediate surroundings were dry as fall leaves. and so he contented himself to just graze. enamels plucked at green strands and munched away, satiating at least one of his constant hungers. however he quickly grew bored, as he was never one to meander too long in any area. it had been far too long since his last conversation with a female. or any equine for that matter. with a quick snort pistons ushered in some choreography - path was not predetermined and for the moment pace was a content yet slightly quick walk. perhaps he'd meet someone in the early morning stroll. if not, well, he had all night to hunt down some company.

The palomino paint mare paused in her stride to scratch her face against her right foreleg that bore a high sock before continuing on her way. Autumn Spirit didnt know where she was going, didnt have a destination on mind. She had decided earlier that company would be nice, perhaps even a stallion and a herd? She wasnt sure about a foal, but a stallion who wished to court her would be welcomed. She could see it now- he would be tall, dark, and handsome; yes! He would be a charmer, would sweep her off her hooves and carry her off to some paradise to live in, to claim for them and perhaps another mare so she would have a friend. The small mustang mare was so lost in her daydream that she wandered into a clearing, and she snapped out of her reverie as the rushing of water filled her ears. Her bi colored tail flicked against her side and she lowered her head to the water to drink greedily from the cool mountain meltwater, completely oblivious to her surroundings. Besides, it wasnt like there were bad horses in the world- or at least not from whence Autumn came.

ah, what to do today? that was perhaps the only downfall of living a solitary lifestyle. there were no assurances of something to happen. there were no foals to look out for, mares to protect, stallions to fight off. but the huge plus side was he could do potentially whatever he wanted; he had nothing tying him down. hmm. he hadn't had any feminine company in a while. perhaps that'd be his goal today. the obsidian beast snorted and lowered poll. nostrils flared and neck arched as gait increased to a slow, yet incredibly controlled trot. he'd gone about half a mile before the faint scent of a female and water hit senses. talk about two birds with one stone, eh?
lithe appendages chartered course so that their paths would intersect. it wasn't going to be difficult, as he suspected that her movements had stopped. it didn't take long, as limbs were long and stride was long as it was quick. anyway, when he did come upon the mare, a small smirk made its' way onto labrums. finally. he could have a morning bath and perhaps sweep this pretty thing off her feet.
gait was reduced to a slow and steady walk. he pretty much walked up like he owned the place. he went to walk past the creme painted mare, and serpentine reached out as if to touch her. but he refrained, just breathing in her scent deeply and coming tantalizingly close. as he moved past, he was careful to give her adequate space. he towered over her, but didn't care really. he was used to being tall. Belial entered the water up to his knees, lowering cranium to take a sip of the refreshing water. after a few gulps, azul eyes gazed at the mare
Hello there darlin'. May I ask what such a pretty lady is doing unaccompanied?

The sound of heavy hoofbeats met her ears and the mustang mare raised her head curiously, watching as a black draft stallion entered the river near her. He was a looker. Tall, dark, and handsome- everything she had just listed that she wanted in a stallion! Surely this couldnt be happening? Perhaps she was still daydreaming? Autumn was snapped out of her thoughts once more, but this time by the stallion's words. Ah, such flattery. Though she knew she shouldnt, the palomino mare lapped it up. "O-oh. Just wandering, y'know. Here and there." she explained, though with a fair amount of stuttering at the start. She couldnt seem to force the words out fast enough. Her painted face reddened, surely he thought her a fool now. The mustang mare looked down at the river in an attempt to hide her frown and started up the bank once more, only to stop at the top and shiFt awkwardly on her hooves. "Im Autumn Spirit, but call me Autumn." she said finally, turning to face the black stud.

obsidian beast smirked contently to himself. she seemed like a sweetheart. gah, girly. if you knew what was good for you you'd leave now. he knew he was a heart breaker. it was only in his nature. leave 'em before they leave you. he couldn't count the number of mares whose personal warmth he had known. by the looks of things, this was barely more than a filly. surely he wasn't her first encounter out in the big scary world? hmm... it'd might serve as a good lesson down the road. he wouldn't rip her to pieces or any of that nonsense though, so in the physical sense she was actually quite safe. he was a playboy, but a southern one at that. he'd rather take a kick in the gut than to let it befall a female.
her stuttering was adorable. at least to him, she near reeked of innocence. and he had the awful habit of removing such things. conversations with her type were always a delight.
Well now, Autumn; one such as yourself shouldn't wonder by your lonesome. The things that go bump in the night are quite real.
Belial removed himself from the cooling water, and walked up the bank as to stand beside her. he shook black coat, and long tassels looked like a fan. when wet, they reached well past point of shoulder. coat was liquid ebony, only tainted by the random scar. he hadn't lived the most holy of lives. the stallion had been in countless sparrings, though it had been a spell.
No need to get shy around me, dearest. I would never hurt a female, especially one as pretty as yourself

She stood at the top of the bank, her multicolored mane and tail rustling softly in the warm spring wind. She was glad that winter was finally over, it definitely wasnt her most favorite season. Summer was much better- warm. Fall was alright, but Autumn didnt like her namesake much. Too cold, and it bled into winter. The palomino paint mare snorted slightly at his words, mulling them over. Surely there couldnt be that many 'bad' horses in Efre. And, even if there were, there were bigger fish to fry than herself. "Whats your name?" she asked curiously, looking up at the tall obsidian stud as he moved out of the river to stand beside her. His presence unsettled her, though there was no reason for it. He hadnt done anything to harm her, said anything out of the way to her- there was just this.. vibe he put off. It was odd. "T-thanks." the mustang mare mumbled, casting her gaze down to the ground humbly. No one had ever called her 'pretty' before, except that colt, but her father didnt like him much, so she had directed him to her best friend- and they were happy, so that was all that mattered. But, Autumn deserved to be happy, too, right? And.. perhaps, this handsome stallion could be the one to whisk her off her hooves, be her knight in shining armor. At this thought, she raised her brown gaze abck up to his alluring blue ones.

the stallion was only atop the bank for a few moments before dial lowered and enamels plucked at the grass. long ebonite tail flicked hide idly, removing non-existant pests. spring was one of his favorite seasons. he didn't dislike any of them, just spring especially stood out. when the lovely minx spoke, he raised crown again and gazed calmly at her while she shared her words. he was making her uncomfortable, and he definitely didn't want that.
Oh my, where are my manners?
he took a step back, separating their silhouettes as to give her more personal space. nobody wins if she felt overly awkward and chose to leave.
My mother saw fit to name me Belial, darlin'.
it wasn't the greatest name. in fact the story behind it may raise some pity in strangers. but he hated the thought, and so never breathed a word of that back-story. anyways, back to the now. this Autumn needed to relax some, so he would attempt to make her more comfortable. when her gaze met his own, he lowered cranium a bit.
So, do you have any plans for today?

He had since lowered his head to graze, but raised it once she spoke to listen instently, his eyes focused on her white face as the words tumbled over themselves in their haste to make themselves heard. After the small mare asked as to his name, the black stud took a step back as to give her more space, for which she was immensely grateful. Autumn had never been the best around others, let alone strangers- especially male strangers. Her ears perked forward as he told her his name- Belial. It was a nice name, and the palomino painted mare took an immediate like to it. "Thats a nice name." she replied, smiling up at him kindly. After a moments hesitation, she took a small step forward to bump her nose with his once in greeting. "My plans? Oh, I dont really have any. I was just thinking about whether or not I was to spend the day here. Theres plenty or grass, as you see, and water. Perhaps you'd care to keep me company?" she rambled, looking up at him inquiringly.

whenever the mare compliment his name, auds were immediately perked and drawn to her. Belial had received countless compliments... just never on his name. it wasn't something he was ashamed or embarrassed of, just one of the things he wasn't overly proud of. maybe this one was different than the young ladies he usually courted. maybe. oh well, innocent until proven guilty.
and a small half-smile spread across lips as she made an inquiry. ah, so she was finally warming up to him. at her touch, pose softened a bit and nearly 'gentled down' in appearance. as if he was being both more sultry and playful at the same time.
It'd be my pleasure, dearest.
blue eyes glanced around at the surroundings, wondering if how long she'd fancy to stay here. not that the place made him uncomfortable, just he was a bit of a free spirit and preferred to stay in a different place each night. but, if it was to keep a female company? now, habits can definitely be put on the sidelines for that.
he reached out to touch his muzzle to her neck, before walking a few yards away to crest a small hillock. one never knew where danger could lay in wait, and so he was just making sure they were indeed alone. having a pack of wolves sneak up would definitely put a damper in his morning.

She had seemed to surprise him with the comment about his name, his ears perked towards the small mustang mare. Autumn had meant it, too. Unique, yet not outlandish but not common all the same. She, herself, didnt quite like her name. The palomino painted mare as named after the second-worst season with a random word tacked on to the end. His deep, rich baritone voice brings her out of her thoughts and she smiled up at the obsidian stud, nodding slightly. It was good he would stay; she would have company and protection. Plus, she would be able to get to know Belial a bit more, perhaps even strike up a friendness, start a flame so to speak. Autumn leaned into his touch like a cat to a hand as he moved past to stand up on the hillock, his blue eyes roaming across the landscape from his new vantage point. She flicked her bicolored tail and took a step towards a crisp patch of clover before lowering her head to the grass to graze, satisfied that all was safe with Belial watching over her.

blue eyes saw nothing to raise an alarm, and after a few moments long flag 'o war flicked side and turned a 180. the stallion basically sauntered back to the mare, choreographed moves so that he went about her in a half-circle. it wasn't one of scrutiny and he didn't mean it to insult. just looking over the female, seeing if he could pick up on any subtle cues. he definitely guessed that she was young; or else kept coat completely out of trouble. scars were hard to come by on that painted frame. she was grazing, and wouldn't rush her to answer. however, he could still voice his thoughts
So, do tell Ms. Autumn; tell me anything you'd like to.
eyes gazed softly at her own, encouraging the small talk. it was an honest inquiry. more than anything he didn't like to sit in still silence. though he was a mature stallion who'd seen his fair share of this world, he could be like an impatient child. to sit and watch a mare graze was not enough for him.

She had heard him come down from where he had been standing on the small hillock, his hooves thumping slightly as he neared. Autumn kept grazing, deciding to play it cool and not act like a lovesick puppy when he came around, stopping whatever she was doing to look at him and reply to him. After a long moment of finishing the mouthful of grass she had, she raised her white face to look at him. "Anything." the small mare relied thoughtfully, cocking her head to the side. "Well. I suppose I could ramble on about Im from Efre. I dont suppose you are, Belial?" the palomino paint mare started, looking up at the black stallion. Surely he wasnt, horses native to Efre where much smaller- like herself. And more.. scarred? No, not that. Just not as.. handsome? Perhaps that was it, though Autumn couldnt quite put her hoof on it. Just something about the way he acted, the way he carried himself.

blue ooids watched the mare contently graze, noting the small natural movements with every breath she took. the way jawline shifted with every morsel that passed over tongue; they way the neck rippled when she chose to pass it on to her stomach. the peaceful rise and fall of painted sides as she breathed in the fresh spring air. what can he say? he was quickly growing bored of the quiet and so began noting the tiniest details.
painted femme did finally raise that pretty head of hers up. it tilted slightly, as if savoring the words she wished to speak. finally though, she shared them. a small half-smile etched itself onto features.
No, you're right. I'm not from anywhere near here.
it was true. he had been on the constant move since... well; memory. to be in a new realm was no surprise. in fact, this was the first time he'd heard the name of it. the way she then began to scope him out; from his painted hooves to the top of ears. my, my; this was a reversal of roles. just to taunt the minx, he moved quite close. he lowered dial just so that maw wasn't even an inch from her ear.
You've never met anybody like me.
frame remained still and very close; daylight barely fitting between the slim opening between the two of them. it was only for a moment though, before he moved a few yards away. he then began pawing at the ground and circling it as a predator would its' prey. before long appendages folded themselves, and tall silhouette was lowered onto the soft grass. Belial then helped himself to basically flatten it. he rolled onto his back and scratched; how heavenly it felt! he did it a few more times; rolling from one side to the other and back again. I know, dear reader. he goes from being a mature seductive stallion one moment, to a colt rolling in a field that next. but hey. he was a bachelor. he did what he wanted, when he wanted.
